Meet Louise Wheeler
Psychotherapist, Accredited CBT Therapist
I have over 20 years of experience working within the NHS in the capacity of a Mental Health Nurse and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I have worked with a variety of clinical groups and in a range of clinical settings, such as the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies service delivering CBT to clients with depression and anxiety disorders. I have gained extensive experience working within the NHS and private practice, supporting clients with a wide range of psychological, emotional, and behavioural problems including Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Health Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias (spiders, dogs, driving etc.) self-esteem problems and different types of Depression.

I have completed advanced specialist training in several different CBT models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused CBT, as well as advanced level training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This means I can draw upon evidence based psychological techniques to meet the specific needs of my clients.

I encourage a collaborative, friendly and informal approach during therapy. I place significant emphasis on trust, confidentiality, humour and the quality of the working relationship. I strongly believe in the value of personal change and a down-to-earth, empathetic, and practical style.
